W&W Holds Landmark FIDIC Dispute Management Forum in Amman

In collaboration with the Jordanian Judicial Institute, the Jordan Engineers Association, and support by AmCham Jordan, W&W held a landmark forum on managing disputes in FIDIC contracts.

Keynote speaker Dr. Amjad Shraiede discussed the use of FIDIC contracts by the Jordanian government and the issues that arise before the judiciary in Jordan relating to the use of FIDIC contract forms.

Firm Managing Partner, Mahmoud Abuwasel, discussed the use of the FIDIC contract forms in the GCC countries, considerations for arbitration disputes that arise out of FIDIC contracts, and issues to consider for Jordanian contractors entering the GCC market.

Eng. Mohamed Abu Afifeh discussed the use of various FIDIC contract forms and capacity building.

Eng. Asel El Housan discussed managing time-bars, and dispute avoidance under FIDIC forms, and how to use the various FIDIC forms based on the nature of the projects, and risk alignment between the parties.

The event was held at the Four Seasons, Amman, Jordan on the 30th of September 2019.
