As part of an awareness campaign, Abu Dhabi Municipality (ADM) inspected tower cranes that covered a total of 160 construction sites in the capital.
The campaign was aimed at emphasising environmental, health and safety standards to be followed while operating tower cranes, and raising awareness among contracting companies, consultants’ offices and real estate developers of the need to adhere to providing the highest safety standards for workers at construction sites.
Through the inspections, ADM urged contractors, consultants and real estate developers to follow the laws and circulars in force in the emirate, and to conduct the necessary audit by a third party to ensure the safety of tower cranes.
As a result of the inspections, ADM stated that contractors and consultants in 42 construction sites were alerted about the need to adhere to the safety standards and six violations by contractors and consultants who were not committed to the requirements of the environment, health and safety were recorded.
The municipality indicated that these campaigns will continue throughout the year, with the aim of avoiding risks in all construction sites.
