Construction to begin on seafront tower project in Bahrain

Bahrain’s Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs, and Urban Planning, Eng Essam bin Abdullah Khalaf, has signed a construction agreement for the Future Generation Reserve Tower to be built on the seafront in the Gulf of Bahrain.

A number of officials and staff from the Ministry of Finance and National Economy; the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs, Urban Planning; and The Future Generations Reserve attended the agreement ceremony.

The project was awarded by the Tender Board to the Al Ghanah Group, one of the leading national construction companies, after submitting a compliant technical and financial tender worth $62m (BD23.4m).

The project will include 38 floors of office accommodation and provide various service facilities.  The project has an overall construction area of 63,000m2 on a plot area of 12,000m2. The construction is expected to be completed in Q4 2022.

The project is expected to be an architectural icon as the first financial investment tower in the Kingdom of Bahrain designed to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Certification (LEED), an internationally recognised green building standard.

The architect of the project is Mohammed Salahuddin Engineering Consulting Bureau, MSCEB, a leading national engineering practice.

The project intends to open up broad prospects for the enhancement of the real estate development sector, in addition to achieving investment returns for the Future Generation Reserve Fund.

It aims to contribute to the revitalisation of the local economy by attracting more local and international investments that represent a direct addition to the national economy and its competitiveness at the regional and international levels, and provide top quality job opportunities for Bahraini people, according to the state-run Bahrain News Agency.
