As part of its precautionary measures and preventive steps to contain the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, Abu Dhabi has opened two COVID-19 testing facilities for workers in Mussafah industrial areas.
According to the director of the Health Centres Department, Dr Khloud Al Dhal’i, the new facilities primarily target blue-collar workers, who have previously been in contact with confirmed COVID-19 cases, the Emirates News Agency reported.

Additionally, the centre also conducts tests on workers suffering from chronic diseases, as well as people aged over 50. The facilities have started receiving visitors from 17 April 2020.
Al Dhal’i added: “The new facilities are aimed to ensure the safety of all those working in the industrial areas, including all nationalities, in order to ensure early detection of coronavirus and provide them with all necessary care.”
She added that all the medical personnel working at the two testing facilities are being tested for the virus on a weekly basis, in order to ensure their safety.
“A daily disinfection of these centres is taking place in addition to advising all medical and administrative staff to keep social distancing and wear face masks and gloves all the time,” Al Dhal’i said.
These testing facilities include mobile clinics — well-equipped to deal with the emergency cases — plus ambulances to transport cases that need additional tests to other medical facilities.
