Douglas OHI contributes to 15 million safe man-hours at Duqm Refinery

Oman-based construction company Douglas OHI, which is working on the Duqm Refinery Project, has contributed 15 million safe man-hours without LTI (lost time injury) on the project.

In April, the project recorded 21,206 manpower on-site, achieving a total of 43 million safe manhours, as of March 2020, Construction Week reported.

The Duqm Refinery Project also recorded 55.2% overall progress as of the aforementioned period. The project progress included 2,92,591m3 of concrete poured; 2,034 civil piles driven; 22,455.5 tonnes of structural steel usage; installation of a 95,843m pipe, and 35,579.7 tonnes of tanks used.

In yet another safety milestone, Douglas OHI recently carried out an environmental spill demonstration campaign at its project site in Duqm, with an aim to demonstrate the steps to be followed in case of a chemical spillage at the site.

The construction company strongly endorses health and safety awareness and has conducted several campaigns for its employees covering topics such as plant and equipment safety; fire extinguishing training; safe lifting operations; excavation and soil backfilling safety; fire drills; water conservation, and most recently, environmental spill demonstration.
