Saudi’s Mashroat inks MoUs to enhance transport, water infra

Saudi Arabia’s National Program to Support the Management, Operation, and Maintenance of Projects in Public Entities (Mashroat) has signed two memoranda of understanding (MoU) – one each with the Ministry of Transport and the National Water Company.

The MoUs are geared toward standardising and codifying construction, maintenance, and operation work, including building assets and facilities management, as well as enhancing the quality of infrastructure in vital sectors such as transportation and water.

The Ministry of Transport’s portfolio includes 112 contracts for the operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of connected road networks between cities, governorates, villages, and deserts throughout the kingdom, which are more than 73,000km long, and comprise more than 5,000 bridges.

According to the MoU inked with the Ministry of Transport, a project programme will assess the maturity of the ministry’s operating and maintenance systems; raise the efficiency of its human cadres through training sessions; and enable the ministry to computerise operations and maintenance, and auditing and follow-up, among other processes.

The MoU inked with the National Water Company will oversee a portfolio of more than 300 contracts covering the operation and maintenance of water purification and distribution systems in purification plants.

The firm oversees 270 stations, and a transportation and distribution network that extends across more than 100,000 km.

In addition, the firm also oversees a collection system and wastewater treatment through a network of more than 44 km.

The project programme will enable the water company to raise its efficiency in the maintenance and operation of all these assets and facilities.
