Saudi Arabia’s The Red Sea Development Company (TRSDC) has confirmed that Phase 1 of the work has begun on the five islands within the Construction Village at the tourism project in the kingdom.
TRSDC’s Construction Village is a residential village that will accommodate 10,000 construction workers at the destination, offering them catering, medical and recreational facilities.
The contract for building the Construction Village was awarded in two parts, after a competitive tender, to an ARCCO-Speedhouse joint venture based in the UAE and to Saudi Arabia’s Al Majal Al Arabi group.
The development of the residential village will leverage pre-fabricated and modular construction methods, to a large extent, to reduce delivery time, enhance quality, limit the number of workers on site and minimise the negative environmental impact of construction, to meet TRSDC’s sustainability targets, the developer stated on its webiste.
In addition, the Construction Village will feature residential buildings positioned to create neighbourhoods around a centralised area.
As an extension of the Construction Village, a further 25,000 construction workers will be accommodated in the Coastal Village.
